Timbavati Nature Reserve Safaris
Bordering on the western side of the Kruger National Park, the 53,000 hectare Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is famed for its sightings of the critically endangered wild dog as well as the unusual white lion. A Timbavati safari also features close up sightings of the Big-5 (tawny lion, buffalo, leopard, elephant and rhino) and a diverse variety of other wildlife, including giraffe, impala, kudu, wildebeest, zebra, warthog and over 360 different species of birds.
The Timbavati is one of Kruger's Private Game Reserves, offering a 'no fence' policy between it and the Kruger National Park. It is a premier safari destination, offering quality lodges and expert guiding, where game rangers will take you on game drive in open 4x4 vehicles both morning and night.
We consider the Timbavati as a great value Kruger safari destination, closely comparable to better known private reserves such as the Sabi Sands. Our safaris to the Timbavati are generally of the 'fly-in' variety making use of the nearby Hoedspruit airport.
