Visit Cape Town's City Center
Cape Town city centre is a cosmopolitan buzz of colorful restaurants, sidewalk cafes, curio shops, galleries, museums, and centuries old Cathedrals alongside breath-taking views.
Famous for being a leading African holiday destination, this multi-cultural city is set at the foot of the majestic Table Mountain. Most Cape Town city attractions are within walking distance of each other and provide a variety of experiences. The eclectic mix of Cape Town's city centre is home to historically significant areas such as Oranjezicht, Tamboerskloof, Gardens, Bo Kaap and District 6. The rich history and heritage of Cape Town can also be experienced with visits to sites such as the South African Museum, the Castle of Good Hope, the Company Gardens and St George's Cathedral.
The bohemian world of African curios are waiting to be discovered in Long Street, as well as weird and wonderful finds in antique shops, book stores and bistros. Next to popular Long Street, in the centre of the city bowl, there's Green Market Square where a line of market stalls and exhibits are ready to steal your attention.
Live music, sports and foodie fairs are popular amongst city dwellers. Take a stroll on the Freedom Walk, indulge the curiosities of rugby at the Springbok Museum, or catch a live jazz band.
If a first-world shopping experience is what you're after, the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront's vibrant parade of shops will keep you entertained. You can also blow off some retail steam by popping into any one of the nationally celebrated restaurants dotted across the harbor.
If that doesn't offer you a Cape Town culture fix, hop on a ferry and visit the world renowned Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for nearly three decades. Alternatively go for a surf or a tan in any of the many beaches surrounding the city centre.
When planning your South Africa visit make sure to plan ahead, pack light and bring a charged camera. There are so many Cape Town attractions on offer you might struggle to see them all in one lifetime.
