Nomad Lamai Serengeti
Nomad Lamai Serengeti is situated within the northern reaches of the Serengeti. Nestled amongst the rocks of the Kogukula Kopje, Nomad Lamai’s tented camp has panoramic breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
The Northern Serengeti is a fantastic location to take in the Great Migration from July to October. Nomad Lamai Serengeti is only a few miles from Mara River when the dramatic scenes of the river crossings play out. Thousands of wildebeest make the perilous trek across the river, dodging treacherous crocodiles as they go. During the months that the Great Migration is not in the Northern Serengeti, the area is good for year round game viewing. The north also stays relatively lush and green during the dry season when the southern plains are parched.
Nomad Lamai makes the most out of its location. From the spectacular views, to the open space and natural light and warmth. Nomad Lamai is made up of 12 tented rooms in total; eight in the main lodge and four in the smaller private lodge. Each tent comes with a private veranda allowing guests to become enthralled by the spectacular location. During the day, guests can enjoy 4x4 game drives, embark on seasonal short bush walks, and indulge in bush picnics and sundowners.
“You almost can’t see the camp when first approaching as it is very cleverly nestled between rocks and hilltops using natural wood and cement to blend in with the surroundings. The views are stunning. The lodge is very light and bright and airy, and you feel totally part of nature here. The main area is intimate and small as is the camp. It feels unique; rustic but still luxurious.
Nomad Lamai is a camp where you do not need to move around too much on game drives as the camp itself is a great nature experience. You can sit back and relax with a book or do some yoga on the hilltop and enjoy the views. A real personal touch is the little ‘hole in the wall’ on the doors on the outside and the inside of the rooms so that when the staff brings breakfast in the morning or afternoon drinks they don’t need to disturb the clients.
Guests should expect some exercise here as the camp is not on flat ground. To get around, you move between boulders up and down terrain almost like a mini hike experience. So it is advisable for travelers who are reasonably fit and definitely not for people with difficulty walking.”
