Southern Tanzania Secrets of the Selous

Starting fromUSD 6500 per person sharing

Our Southern Tanzania Secrets tour is a Selous Game Reserve safari in the proper sense ? complete escape from crowds. The 50 000 square kilometer (19 305 square miles) Selous is the second biggest park in Africa. From the secluded nooks to Ruaha National Park, to chimpanzee spotting in the Mahale Mountains National Park, each discovery is intimate as it is magical.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - 2: Dar Es Salaam, Capital of Tanzania

Searching for spice in Dar es Salaam you arrive in the Capital of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam, from here you will be taken to hotel. Kick back and spend the day either enjoying the creature comforts of your hotel or venturing into the spicy streets of the city.

Day 2 - 4: Selous Game Reserve

Time to leave the city behind and catch your flight to Selous Game Reserve for some safari escapades. We've booked your into the stylish Azura Selous, located in one of the most private of private concessions. This deceptively diverse UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to savannah dwelling animals such as elephants, hippo, African wild dog, buffalo and crocodiles. Sit back and enjoy the bliss of solitude in this magical land where there are more animals than people.

Day 4 - 6: Ruaha National Park

Rambles in Ruaha National Park After a breakfast, we'll escort you to Ruaha National Park - a vast safari playground home to one of the greatest elephant populations in Africa. Nothing epitomises “wild Africa” quite like Ruaha with its river rapids, rugged landscape and baobab silhouetted landscape. Ruaha also. Your nights will spend at the shaded Jongomero Camp - nestled in the heart of the bush, experience unadulterated wilderness. While on your stay, experienced guides are ready to show you a wealth of biodiversity with organised game drives and walks.

Day 6 - 9: Mahale National Park

Coastal escapades in Mahale Mountains National Park Mahale, where lions and chimps co-exist peacefully. The park lies on the vast beach-like lake of Tanganyika, one of the most remote areas in Africa and hard to find by outsiders. You will stay in the shore oasis Kungwe Beach Lodge offering unrivaled views over the lake and the perfect place to see the chimpanzees up to their usual antics. Make the most of you last few days by snorkeling, going on game drives and chimp walks in this very diverse park.

Day 9: Dar Es Salaam

Today you depart around mid morning and can enjoy a packed lunch on board the plane as you travel over Tanzania towards Dar es Salaam. This is where we bid you farewell as you catch that final flight back home feeling more in love with Africa than ever before.
