Enjoy a seven night journey along one of South Africa’s most beautiful road trip routes; the Garden Route. It is named for the abundance of natural beauty and flora and fauna found along the way. It stretches across South Africa’s southern coast from the town of Mossel Bay to the small village of Storm’s River and meanders through towns such as George, Wilderness, Knysna, Oudtshoorn and Plettenberg Bay. A Garden Route road trip gives you the opportunity to see some of the most stunning destinations in South Africa.  Along with being absolutely picturesque, the Garden Route is full of exciting things to see and do.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - 4: Cape Town

Cape Town is South Africa’s Mother City. It is filled with exciting sights, activities and destinations. After landing at Cape Town International Airport, you will be transported to your selected accommodation.  Spend 3 nights exploring this cosmopolitan city and the beautiful surrounds. During your stay, you will have an array of activities to choose from. Sit and absorb the buzz of culture, shopping and entertainment at the V&A Waterfront, soak up a view of the city from the top of the majestic Table Mountain and delight in the tastes and pairings of the Winelands.  Cape Town definitely delivers as a destination!

Day 4 - 6: Knysna

Choose to either collect your hired car in Cape Town and enjoy a scenic five hour drive to Knysna or alternatively purchase a flight from Cape Town to George and collect a hire car at George airport. Knysna is situated in the heart of the Garden Route and surrounded by dramatic mountain ranges and national parks as well a striking lagoon, Knysna is sure to take your breath away! During your time here, there are plenty of top activities to choose from; a cruise around the Knysna Heads, a visit to Featherbed Nature Reserve, exploring the Knysna Lagoon and the vibrant Knynsa Waterfront. There are plentiful nearby nature reserves and beaches which are perfect for activities, leisurely walks and hikes.

Day 6 - 7: Plettenberg Bay

The jewel of the Garden Route, Plettenberg Bay – or “Plett” as it is affectionately known by locals – is a charming seaside town that is perfect for a beach getaway. Plettenberg Bay is a short distance from Knysna allowing visitors the chance to enjoy a leisurely drive while taking in the beautiful scenery. The town sits on a mountainside overlooking a magnificent bay. A stay in Plettenberg Bay would be incomplete without a visit to the pristine beaches. There are a number of attractions nearby including Tsitsikamma National Park treetop canopy tour - all sure to keep you entertained.

Day 7 - 8: Lalibela Game Reserve

For the final stretch of your Garden Route trip, make your way to Lalibela Game Reserve. Located a 3 hour drive from Plettenberg Bay, Lalibela is a Big 5 Game Reserve situated in South Africa’s wildly beautiful and malaria-free Eastern Cape. While staying at Lalibela, you can look forward to fantastic accommodation as well as morning and sunset game drives. Allow yourself to be spoilt with amazing cuisine and a true African Safari experience.  An experienced game ranger will help you explore the various exciting animal and birdlife living in the diverse landscapes found across this region.  On the final morning, following your game drive and hearty breakfast enjoy your last views of the Eastern Cape before continuing to Port Elizabeth airport.
