My husband and I went on a 10-day trip to Tanzania in August 2018 for the great migration, Big Fives and other wildlife. Having read numerous TripAdvisor reviews, we had decided to engage Safari365 to advise on, plan, organize and make bookings for our once-in-a-lifetime trip. We had been a bit nervous before actually setting out for Tanzania, wondering whether we had engaged the right agent and whether we would be able to see what we had been longing to see. It turned out that everything went smoothly (from airport pickup to transport arrangements, lodgings and tour arrangements) and we had a most fruitful trip! And we have been offered a free photo album with our selection of photos taken during the trip! Firstly, we have to thank Romy Childs of Safari365. She had planned a perfect itinerary for us – visiting Arusha city on arrival in Tanzania, followed by Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, a Masai village, and Serengeti National Park. Each stop unveiled a unique and interesting facet of Tanzania; together they fulfilled and exceeded our expectations for our first African trip! Romy had been patient and highly responsive to our enquiries, requests and changes in travel dates, etc. Secondly, we thank SP, our super guide for the first half of our trip! He was thoughtful, knowledgeable, gentle, resourceful and responsible! He had such a powerful eyesight that he could spot wildlife and birds no matter how far they were. And he was just like a walking encyclopedia, citing the names and interesting facts of animals and plants we met on the way. Thirdly, we thank the transfer company ASE, particularly Arnold who picked us up from Kilimanjaro Airport and drove us to the Arusha hotel. Once we stepped out of Kilimanjaro Airport, Arnold was right there greeting us with his welcoming smile. He was very friendly and courteous, and took the initiative to show us interesting places such as a local market, a gallery and even a rare glimpse of the Mount Kilimanjaro! He also offered us useful information about Tanzania and its people. Lastly but not least, all the lodgings arranged by Romy were charming and comfortable – (1) The African Tulip was a lovely quiet gem amidst the Arusha city, with helpful staff, tasteful decorations and delicious food. Our room was spacious and comfortable. (2) At Tarangire River Camp, we stayed in a spacious tent, which carried a taste of wildness yet providing comfort and good necessities. It had a team of welcoming staff as well as good food. The only thing was that the hot water supply for shower was not quite stable. (3) The Bougainvillea Safari Lodge was like a resort to us, with more modern facilities and a small gift shop where we bought some postcards and stamps, which the staff kindly mailed for us. The staff were all very nice, accommodating and thoughtful – the whole team performed traditional singing cum dancing while delivering the birthday cake we ordered for our guide the first night; and on our last night there, they presented us with a surprise farewell cake, with singing and dancing again! We love their food too – various meat and vegetable options were offered in every meal, which were very nicely cooked with healthy and fresh ingredients. (4) Our favourite lodging during the trip was Kaskaz Mara Camp. It was inside the Serengeti National Park, so that the great migration, Big Fives and an abundance of wildlife were around us! The Camp was maintained in good shape and to a high standard, under the able leadership of Hassan Mpendu. Our tent was spacious, tastefully decorated and well equipped, which offered a classy and comfortable stay, exceeding our expectations for an expedition in the wild savannah! All the meals were thoughtfully designed and cooked, with varied menus everyday. We were lucky to have Edgar (commonly called Eddie) as our driver guide. He was conversant with all the fauna and flora around; he knew perfectly what we would want to see and where to find them; and he took us to the best spots for viewing and taking pictures. Thanks to Eddie, we had great sightings of river crossings, mass migrations on the savannah, all the Big Fives and a wide variety of wildlife and their activities, beautiful birds, as well as romantic sunrise and sunset! We just can’t wait to go back!
