Giving back with "Ubuntu for change"

At Safari365, we believe that giving back to the communities in which we operate, while also promoting wildlife conservation are essential parts of responsible and sustainable travel.

We are committed to this cause, and for that reason started the “Ubuntu for Change” initiative in 2016.

Ubuntu, a Xhosa word meaning “the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity”, is the cornerstone of this cause.

Our aim remains to support a variety of charitable causes, including education, health, and social welfare programmes, as well as conservation and wildlife protection initiatives. We work closely with our local partners to identify organizations that are making a positive impact in the communities and places we visit, and we make donations and contributions to support their work.

Uplifting communities with GCU & Eco Children

For 2023, our focus is on the development of our youth in impoverished communities. So, this year we have partnered with two incredible organisations, Great Commission United & Eco Children, to help transform the lives of our youth in both urban and rural areas.

GCU:

An initiative started by its founder Mario van Niekerk, the NPO is uplifting the youth in the Heideveld community. The organisations run in-school and after-school programmes that include literacy and education, sports education, youth employment and empowerment, community development and feeding schemes. All of which contribute to the development of the 8 schools that they support and in turn the community as a whole.

ECO CHILDREN:

An initiative by the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, this NPO focuses on hands-on environmental education and whole-school development for children in rural Mpumalanga and Limpopo. It is through their projects of eco-education, literacy programs, bursaries and infrastructure development that they are alleviating the burden of poverty through access to quality education.

For every booking made with Safari365 in 2023, we will contribute US$ 40 towards these initiatives, and we are aiming to donate over US$ 15,000 in 2023 which will support over 7000 learners.

Previous Charities Supported:

Feeding the less fortunate with Ladles of Love

At Safari365, we are committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate. In 2022, we were proud to donate 1200 meals to Ladles of Love, a Cape Town-based organisation dedicated to feeding the hungry and providing healthy food through a network of non-profit organisations.

Founded by Danny, Ladles of Love began as a small soup kitchen serving soup to the homeless once a week on St. Georges Mall. Today, the organisation serves hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children and families from depots throughout the Western Cape and Gauteng region.

We are honoured to have support the efforts of Ladles of Love and their mission of creating a better world for all. Our donation is just one small step in our ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and making a positive impact in the lives of those in need.

Helping Africa's wildlife with the Tourism Conservation Fund

We are committed to promoting conservation and protecting South Africa’s wildlife and biodiversity. That’s why we are proud to support the Tourism Conservation Fund, a non-profit organisation established by the Peace Parks Foundation and the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association in 2018.

The Fund aims to build a more inclusive wildlife economy by investing in communities adjacent to conservation areas, many of which have been historically excluded from economic development. By creating sustainable businesses and jobs rooted in the wildlife-tourism economy, the Tourism Conservation Fund works to preserve South Africa’s wildlife and promote biodiversity.

As a tour operator, we understand that responsible travel and conservation go hand in hand and were very pleased to support this initiative.

Keeping the homeless warm with Street Sleeper

We’re proud to announce that we donated 500 vinyl sleeping bags to Street Sleeper, an organisation dedicated to providing support for the homeless community.

Street Sleeper was founded to help the homeless communities. The innovative concept of creating a sturdy and sustainably sourced urban survival sleeping bag, that would last a long time, stand up to the elements, and double as a daytime pack that homeless people could use to carry their belongings, inspired us to support this initiative.

Street Sleeper’s mission is to provide practical, sustainable and dignified solutions to homelessness, and we are proud to support their efforts. We hope that our donation will make a difference in the lives of the homeless community and we encourage others to support the cause as well.

As a tour operator, we understand the importance of responsible travel and conservation and regularly donate funds to support the Ginindsa Beauty College and Spa Initiative.

2016: Street sleeper

We recently donated 500 vinyl sleeping bags to Street Sleeper, an organisation that helps the homeless community. The sleeping bags provide warmth and protection, as well as a practical solution to carrying belongings during the day.
