Zimbabwe travel news: Victoria Falls Airport opens soon
Good news Zimbabwe travel fans! The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) has excitedly announced that the new multi-million dollar Victoria Falls Airport is set to open its doors this September.
“The project is progressing well,” said CAAZ. “By September we should have a new airport.”
Safe convenient Zimbabwe travel
The US$150 million upgrade is set to lay the foundation that aims to boost tourism. According to CAAZ, the 4 kilometer (2.4 mile) runway is 90 percent complete and the terminal 65 percent.
The new runway will be able to harbor large aircrafts such as the Boeing 777, Boeing 747 and Airbus A340; and the new terminal will be used for international flights. The newly revamped facility promises to handle more than one million passengers per year – making Zimbabwe travel more convenient, efficient, safe and open to the world.
The news follows Zimbabwe Tourism’s announcement of the UNIVISA for travellers and plans to lure travelers and boost revenue to US$5 billion by 2018. A new Victoria Falls Airport is definitely a step in the right direction.
