Touwsberg Nature Reserve: Klein Karoo gem unveils magic
Here at Safari365 it gives us a thrill talking about new African destinations.
Introducing Touwsberg Nature Reserve – a 7000 hectare fynbos paradise set in Klein Karoo, next to the famous Route 62 – who unveiled a new wanderlust inducing video. And have finally opened their doors to the public.
As a leading African based travel outfit, we had to find out more.
WATCH: Discover Touwsberg Nature Reserve
The Touwsberg Nature Reserve ticks all the right boxes of the perfect weekend escape: wide open spaces, 160 bird species, tons of smaller wildlife such as springbok, giraffe, Cape mountain zebra, kudu, black wildebeest and more exotic offerings such as leopard, caracal black eagle and falcon are all on offer.
As well as the most crystal clear water this side of the equator.
Everything spells out freedom and as such there’s as much ground to cover as there is potential. The eco-friendly game reserve is home to a kaleidoscope of flora and forms part of the Cape Floral Kingdom – designated as one of the earth’s six plant kingdoms.
And to top it all off, it’s on the Robertson wine route (that passes infamous Ronnie’s Sex Shop) a stone’s throw away from Cape Town. Other than the Big 5, you’re spoiled for unspoilt choice.
Are there any Touwsberg Nature Reserve safaris on offer?
You can experience Touwsberg with an exclusive booking, but the short answer is no – not in the traditional sense. We view Touswsberg as a soft-adventure escape into wilderness and a great area to consider if you are on a road-trip through the lesser visited destinations of the Western Cape.
A slice of Touwsberg
Beyond Kruger National Park and Table Mountain, what makes South Africa an exceptional destination is often not its known icons but its undiscovered ones. Touwsberg Nature Reserve is no exception. Word on the safari circuit is potential travel entrepreneurs are snapping up land…
For now we’re on the edge of our seat. Keep an eye out as we uncover more.
