The center includes museum exhibits, made up of a series of displays together with interactive presentations with which visitors will be guided through key characteristics of the Serengeti. The center will also feature a lecture theatre, where guests speakers will be presenting on a variety of nature based topics.
Bilila Lodge will have a team of experts, closely involved with a number of research and conservation projects on the Serengeti’s wildlife, to provide frequent updates at the center. Interested guests will also be invited to participate in specialist research projects.
From the center, guests will be able to personally monitor the movements and behaviour of wildlife around the Lodge during their stay by using the most modern photographic methods to track and identify animals.
The Discovery Centre Manager, Oli Dreike is looking forward to welcoming guests to enjoy the centre, he says, "The new Discovery Centre is not on only an education tool, it is an exciting opportunity to show our guests what an incredibly special and fascinating place the Serengeti is. By getting guests involved in current research projects such as Snapshot Serengeti and Cheetah Watch, we hope that they will gain a deeper understanding of the park's wildlife, while also being able to carry on their safari experience once they are back at home."
By adding the Discovery Centre Bilila has added exceptional educational value to their already luxurious offering. Bilila is beautifully positioned in the Central Serengeti overlooking the plains and ensuring that guests can view game directly from the lodge. The 77 room lodge offers a variety of accommodations to suit all upmarket travelers from rooms and suites to large private villas.
Four Seasons Bilila already boasts a fitness center, a business center and a spa on site and a kids club catering to teens and children, ensuring that families are also offered a fully interpretive wilderness experience.
Bilila is the first of the Four Seasons properties in Tanzania having opened in December 2012 and there are 2 new projects in Ngorongoro and Zanzibar currently in development. Having already set an exceptional standard for wilderness education in the Serengeti, it will be interesting to see what they have in store for travelers when their new offerings in these regions become available!
