Review: This was the most amazing experience – we will be back!
In May and June 2019, Gretchen and Grahame had an amazing time exploring South Africa’s Kruger National Park, Garden Route, Victoria Falls and Chobe National Park in Botswana. This was their first trip to Africa and they are already excited to return! During he just ran ptheir Southern African adventure, they experienced a stunning road trip, wonderful wildlife and beautiful natural scenery. Gretchen shared the highlights of their trip with us.

“We have travelled a lot but this journey exceeded our expectations.
We normally travel independently so we were a little unsure about relying on someone else to do the arranging for us but we needn't have worried. Things couldn't have gone any better. Matthew was wonderful to deal with and the itinerary he put together fitted with what we wanted to do. His responses to our questions no matter how silly were always so prompt. The accommodation he arranged was wonderful. All the transfers were on time and we were never kept waiting anywhere.
When visiting Kruger National Park, the lodge at GomoGomo was amazing, right there on the watering hole with animals coming and going all the time. There was one particular herd of elephants would come daily to bathe, drink and play. Then the impala, giraffes and zebras would arrive. There was a hippo in there one day. There was just so much activity all the time.
The Tydon Safari Camp was totally different and it was great to experience. The game drives were also awesome at both lodges with the guides being so knowledgable about everything. The places they took us to see the animals up close was scary at first but once we accepted that they knew what they were doing it was a great experience.
Chobe was quite different again. Cresta Mowana was a beautiful place but we did prefer the smaller more intimate lodges. But once again the guides were amazing although there was not the opportunity to go off road in Chobe as there was at Klaserie or Sabi Sands we still had amazing experiences viewing the animals. To experience all the animals so up close especially a beautiful leopard was just amazing. Not so sure about some close encounters with some grumpy elephants!!
Our only disappointment was that we didn't see any lions despite the guides and trackers doing their best to find some for us. But that’s wildlife for you - unpredictable. Every reason to go back to Africa!
The Safari Club in Johannesburg was so convenient to the airport. Couldn't be better for our overnight stops. The transfers all worked like magic.
We found the drive from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth [along the Garden Route] very easy. We feared the worst having read about South Africa's horrendous road toll. But the roads were great as were the drivers. The only ones we gave a bit more space to were those taxi van things. They seem to be in such a hurry! The accommodations we booked were all great and such value for money compared to other places we have travelled.
We found everyone everywhere so helpful and courteous.
This was the most amazing experience!
We would not hesitate to use Safari 365 again and would certainly recommend them to anyone. We couldn’t have done this on our own. Well done Matthew O'Brien! All in all this adventure exceeded our expectations in every way. We will be back!!”
