Cape Town’s Beaches Among the World’s Best
Cape Town has done it again. Following its list of growing accolades, the stellar city has another to add to its trophy case. National Geographic has voiced what the locals already know – Cape Town is world class beach city.
Losing narrowly to Spain’s Barcelona, Cape Town was named the “second best beach city in the world”.
National Geographic says the following:
“The African capital of cool sprawls on a peninsula that divides the icy Atlantic from the warmer Indian Ocean, putting some 20 beaches within striking distance. The Clifton beaches, known for the opulent homes that overlook them and stellar sunset-viewing, are sheltered from the region’s strong trade winds by a mountainous ridge. Further north, the breeze is unleashed at surfing sweet spots like Milnerton and Blouberg. Families favor the eastern False Bay coast for warmer water and tot-friendly tidal pools.”
Other cities that got credible mention include:
3. Honolulu, Hawaii
4. Nice, France
5. Miami Beach, Florida
6. Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
7. Santa Monica, California
8. Sydney, Australia
9. Tel Aviv, Israel
10. Vancouver, British Columbia
