Marcus

CEO

Born and raised in South Africa, Marcus is passionate about Africa and driven to share all that it has to offer with the world.

Marcus completed his schooling in Cape Town and finished his honours degrees in Marketing and Finance at the University of Cape Town. His early career involved FMCG marketing and operations, before getting involved in tourism. With the coming of age of the internet, and an innate love for Africa, the decision in 2005 to start a specialist African safari company was the right one.

I consider myself privileged to be involved in a business such as Safari365. It operates in an environment that merges the best of technology and African tourism, and fulfills the dreams of so many people that yearn to visit this enchanting continent. Tourism is also a major contributor of foreign exchange to Africa, so whist we specialise in the creation of tailor-made safaris, there is also the ‘feelgood’ factor knowing that our clients are indirectly supporting the areas and regions they visit with much needed down-the-line job creation

When Marcus is not in the office, he can be found enjoying some of the perks of the industry (like visiting the phenomenal destinations and lodges we offer) or riding his mountain bike along South Africa’s routes and trails.

Most Treasured Travel Experience:
Recalling my first childhood safari experience in the Kruger National Park (where a face-to face encounter with a sounder of warthogs was enough to get me hooked).

Tim

Head of Marketing

The son of an airline pilot, Tim was born in Kuwait and lived in Hong Kong, whilst being educated at boarding school in the UK.

Tim’s imagination was first captured by Africa as a teenager accompanying his parents on safari in the Sabi Sands of Kruger National Park. He swore then he would become a ranger when he grew up!

Although that didn’t happen, Tim did emigrate to the warmer climbs of Cape Town on completing his Business Finance & Marketing degree at Durham University in the UK in 2004. He has fallen more in love with South Africa as each year has passed.

Tim lives a few hundred meters from the white sands of Blouberg beach and can be found walking his dog Harry along the shoreline, or bouncing around a local tennis court.

Karen

Africa Travel Expert

Karen was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. As a child and growing up, family holidays took her to the bush not the beach! The family spent many vacations exploring the Kruger National Park. Karen then travelled extensively through most of Africa including Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in the East of Africa, and Zambia, Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and South Africa in the southern part of the continent. The Indian Ocean Islands off the coast of Africa including Mauritius, Reunion and Seychelles were also visited by Karen.

All of these travels developed Karen’s love of and continuing fascination with Africa.

In this vast continent there are so many options available from Cape Town to Kenya. Karen’s role is to work closely with you to develop the ideal safari itinerary, based on your needs and preferences, from the plethora of countries, cultures, and wildlife experiences. Her experience and knowledge of the destinations will assist in making your journey a reality.

Most Treasured Travel Experience

Waking up at dawn to watch the sun rise over the rim of Ngorongoro Crater from her balcony in the hotel room, then followed with a day viewing a complete “smorgasboard” of game in the Crater. Karen took a hundred photos but nothing could properly capture the experience.

Wanita

Africa Travel Expert

Wanita Lassen was born a child of sand and sunshine. This Namibian native and globe trotter fell in love with traveling from a very young age. Despite having set foot in Switzerland, Paris, Bali, London, China and Austria amongst others, she admits quite frankly,

“Africa is my first love and most precious traveling destination where I’ve made the grandest memories.”

Favorite Destination

Botswana, Namibia and Seychelles always come out tops.

Most Treasured Travel Experience

This is very difficult … as I have so many, but nothing beats the most amazing sunsets after a day out experiencing the African wildlife in their natural habitat, getting ready for dinner under the African full moon star filled sky with my husband while having the night animals sounds as background music!

Nadine

Africa Travel Expert

Nadine has experienced life in a number of cities across the globe. Originally from Leipzig, Germany where she studied Hotel Management, Nadine moved to the UK in 2003 where she met her South African husband. In 2009, they packed their bags and moved to South Africa. Today, she lives with her family near the beautiful beaches of Cape Town.

Before joining the Safari365 team, Nadine took on a number of career challenges from working in the hotel industry for 11 years to working in property management. After arriving in South Africa, Nadine expanded her repertoire to include the travel industry. While working for an East African Destinations Management Company, Nadine fell in love with East Africa with the Serengeti, Tarangire National Park, the Masai Mara, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar coming to feel like a third home.

Favourite Destination

The Serengeti in the off season when it is just you, your guide, the wildlife and this vast, ever changing landscape. The south is completely different to the north and when you fly from the northern Serengeti to Arusha or Zanzibar the landscape is just out of this world with the still active volcano called “Ol Doinyo Lengai” which means “mountain of god” to the Maasai people.

Most Treasured Travel Experience

A walking safari in Tarangire National Park.

What a treat! It is a chance to see all the little things that you won’t notice from inside a car. Nadine and her group came across an elephant scull, termite hills, zebras, elephants in the distance, a giraffe skeleton. The guide was phenomenal in explaining all there was to know. Nadine can highly recommend getting out of the car and taking a walk on the wild side!

Cruising the Chobe River and enjoying spectacular wildlife viewing of hippopotamuses lolling around in the water and watching elephants and giraffes graze within meters of our boat. The interaction between the various wildlife species left me mesmerized for hours.

Game driving in the Botswana, where I saw a large wild dog pack with pups running less than five meters away from the safari vehicle and witnessing  the precision of wild dogs hunting – all on the same game drive.

Amie

Africa Travel Expert

Amie was born in Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital city. She has been lucky enough to live in a number of cities around the world including Johannesburg in South Africa and towns across the United Kingdom. Amie graduated with a Law degree from Kingston University in Surrey, England.

After spending her three years at university sharing stories of her time in Africa with everybody that she met (and convincing them to visit!) Amie decided to embark on a career in travel and tourism, thanks to her love of Africa. Working in the travel industry allows Amie to share her passion for Africa with her guests.

Favourite Travel Destination:

Zimbabwe and Cape Town. Amie feels that there is nothing more comforting than being so content in a place that when you look at a plane in the sky, you aren’t wishing you were on it travelling someplace else – this is how she feels in both Zimbabwe and Cape Town.

Most Treasured Travel Experience:

Two experiences stick out. The first was a weekend away spent at a cozy lodge in Nyanga, Zimbabwe. Amie spent the weekend canoeing, exploring the woodlands and enjoying the serenity and effortless beauty of Africa’s natural world.

The second was a trip to Kariba where she was a second away from stepping on a crocodile (it was either due to Amie’s luck or a lazy crocodile that she just missed it). Maybe not the fondest memory but how many times can you say you avoided crocodile catastrophe?

Benazeer moved to South Africa in 2018 and now calls Cape Town home. She decided to join Safari365 because she wanted to share her passion for Africa and help people experience its beauty.

Favourite Destination

South Africa! Benazeer fell in love with this country from the first time she visited. The country has so much to offer and the people are so friendly! She was amazed by the country’s richness and history.

They were catching waves and swimming below them! It was one of the most rewarding and peaceful experiences to witness dolphins in their natural habitat.

COMPANY365

We’re international and well-travelled,

We also run sales offices in the United States, Brazil and Australia, allowing us to assist you in multiple languages and time zones.

Personalised Attention

Once employed, graduates will repay the cost of their stipend, thereby ensuring resources are available for new trainees each year.”
